Kyiv Home Project

As many of you are aware, the Kyiv Home is being constructed at 61 Belleview Drive right here in Cottam. The purpose of the house is to provide transitional housing for Ukrainian refugees who are fleeing the war in their homeland. The house is nearing completion and we are now planning to enter the next phase of this project which is to welcome Ukrainians to our community, but also to recruit volunteers to help them settle and get established.

We will need people with various skills from drivers to interpreters. All volunteers will need to complete a Volunteer Registration Form and must provide a Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check which can be done online through Kingsville OPP. We will be providing some training for all volunteers to help familiarize them with some of the issues that they may face. There is also a special need for local people who can speak Ukrainian or Polish.

If you would like to volunteer to help with this project, please email us at kyiv@cottamunitedchurch.ca or all the church office at 519-839-4266. Thanks to everyone who has so generously supported and donated to the Kyiv Home Project. The outpouring of support from our community has been overwhelming.

Please consider taking a look at the Gift Registry for items that are still needed. Tax receipts can be issued for items purchased for $10 and over, that are accompanied with receipts and contact information, including address. Instructions for delivery and/or shipping can be found on the Registry.
