Drive by Drop off Update

For the past twelve weeks we have been holding the weekly drive by drop off of non-perishable food and hygienic products in aid of the Essex Food Bank. This has been an amazingly successful drive and we have collected an awful lot of food and other products for those who are not as well off as some in Cottam and the surrounding area. We are looking for volunteers to man the parking lot each Tuesday as Andy has other commitments on the horizon that may prevent him holding the fort each week. It is not an onerous task and you get to meet other members of our community during the two hour time commitment between 10 am and noon. The only real pain about the job is that the Food Bank, located at the back of the United Church in Essex, closes at 11:45 am and so the collected food has to be taken home and stored until they reopen on Thursday at 8:30 am. (This is only because we have been collecting too much to fit into their drop box.) We may consider changing the time to 9 am to 11 am so that we can do it all in one day. If there are two or three of you who would be willing to help out on a rotating schedule that would be great as we do not want to see this outreach come to an end for the sake of one individual no longer being available. If you are interested and want more information please call or text Andy on 226 344 0835 or email to andy.pears@cottamunitedchurch.ca.

Also, please remember to support those in need by participating in this Saturday’s June 27 Miracle Project. If you live in a rural area, check here for drop off locations. In light of this project, Cottam United will forego the ‘drive up drop off’ on June 30, but resume on Tuesday, July 7.

Thanks and blessings to you all.”
